Why it matters
It is the road that holds central Bengaluru together — the one most people use to get between the eastern and southern parts of the city without a long detour.
History
The Inner Ring Road loops around central Bengaluru, linking Indiranagar, Domlur, Koramangala and the neighbourhoods west of the centre. It was built to let cross-city traffic avoid the old commercial core around Majestic and M. G. Road, and it is still the quickest way between the eastern and southern suburbs without going out to the Outer Ring Road.
