Why it matters
This is a link in the road chain between Delhi and Mumbai, and the main route from Jaipur towards Ajmer, Pushkar and Udaipur. Marble lorries from Kishangarh and freight from Gujarat run on it day and night.
History
The Jaipur–Kishangarh stretch of the Delhi–Ahmedabad highway was one of the first six-lane tolled roads built in Rajasthan under a private concession, opening in 2005. It runs across flat, dry country from Jaipur towards Ajmer, and it set the pattern for the six-laning of the rest of NH 48.
