Why it matters
Kodagu's coffee estates and hill resorts depend on this road for both their crop and their visitors, and it is the western continuation of the Bengaluru–Mysuru expressway corridor.
History
This is the road west from Mysuru towards Kodagu, the coffee-growing hill district also known as Coorg. It is being upgraded into a four-lane, part access-controlled highway to carry the heavy tourist traffic that pours into the hills every weekend and to speed up the movement of coffee, pepper and timber down to Mysuru.
