History
National Highway 79 is a short, busy connector across central Tamil Nadu, running west from Ulundurpettai on the Chennai–Trichy road through Kallakurichi and Attur to Salem. It is the direct route between the Chennai corridor and the Salem–Erode industrial belt, and it saves a long detour through Trichy.
