History
National Highway 86 runs north from the Bundelkhand town of Maharajpur through Mahoba and Hamirpur to Kanpur, crossing the Betwa and Yamuna river country on the way. It is one of the main roads out of Bundelkhand — a dry, hard-farming region that has long been among the poorest parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh — towards the industrial city of Kanpur.
