History
The Tiruchirappalli ring road is a long semicircle around the north and east of the city, built to keep the traffic of four converging national highways out of a centre hemmed in by the Cauvery river and the Rockfort. Trichy is one of the busiest road junctions in Tamil Nadu, and the ring links the roads to Chennai, Madurai, Thanjavur and Coimbatore.
