Why it matters
It is the standard route between Hyderabad city and its airport, and it turned a journey that once crawled through old-city traffic into a straight run.
History
When Hyderabad's new airport opened at Shamshabad in 2008, it sat well outside the city and the roads to it ran through some of the oldest and most crowded parts of Hyderabad. This eleven-kilometre elevated expressway, named after former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, was built to lift airport traffic clean over Mehdipatnam, Attapur and Aramghar. It was for a time the longest flyover in the country.

The quickest way to the airport from the west and centre of Hyderabad. Allow extra time at the Mehdipatnam end in the evening peak.
